Welcome to the future of printing!
The Miller Center is pleased to offer members the ability to submit projects to be printed on the center’s 3D printers. The 3D Printer can create a physical object based on a design supplied as a digital file. These can be designs you’ve created yourself, or designs you’ve obtained from another source and have permission to use.
Miller Business Center members can use the form below to submit a request that a project be printed on one of our 3D printers. A Miller Center specialist will be in touch with you to arrange for you to send us the design file for the project you’d like to print. Once it is determined that the project to be printed meets the requirements set forth in the library’s 3D Printing Policy, your project will go into the queue to be printed. A staff member will let you know it is available at the Miller Center to be picked up.
What file formats can be used with the 3D printer?
The printer can create objects based on designs in the following formats:
Wavefront obj (.obj)
ACSII stl (.stl)
Binary stl (.stl)
Thing (.thing)
How large can the project be?
The printer has a maximum build volume of
25.2 L x 19.9 W x 15.0 H cm
(9.9 L x 7.8 W x 5.9 H in)
Please note that larger print jobs will take longer and will be more expensive to print.
What is the cost to have a project printed?
The charge is 10 cents per gram. Members who do not pick up their finished projects within one week will have the cost billed to their membership card.
Do you help with design?
While we may be able to troubleshoot printing issues related to your design, in general we are unable to assist with the initial design of your model.
