We love surveys and the data that is gathered from them here at the Center. One of my favorite sources is Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project. It’s especially helpful when thinking about creating new programming and workshops. The sort of things that small businesses and consumers in general are interested in and how they use the internet in the next 20 years should steer the direction you are taking your company in.
For example, in a report released today, Pew reports that 87% of adults online say the internet has helped them learn new things, one being doing research on what products and services they should buy. So what does that mean for your small business? It means that your website, social networking presence, and your interactivity online with your customers is extremely important. Customers love doing research online, and if your web site is not up-to-date, they will go somewhere else with their business.
