Around this time of year we like to consume some statistics from one of our favorite databases, Statista. So what does Thanksgiving 2017 have in store for U.S. consumers? Well…Turkeys should be nervous and carbs are king.
The most popular Thanksgiving meal menu item this year will be either “Bread, cornbread, or biscuits” (75%), followed, of course, by the star of the table, “Turkey” (72%). As far as side dishes, both “Mashed Potatoes” and “Stuffing” are close (67% vs 66% respectively), while “Green Beans” come in at 58%. Only 7% of those surveyed will have a “Vegetarian” Thanksgiving.
And when will the majority of Americans sit down to their feast? 38% say between 1pm and 3pm, followed by 22% between 4:00pm and 5:00pm. The majority of consumers surveyed will be celebrating either at home (62%) or at a relative’s home (32%).
Do you plan on burning some calories by shopping after your meal? 51% of folks say they will stay home, while only a third surveyed say they would likely hit the stores for those early Black Friday sales.
And speaking of sales: just how much are Americans planning to spend this year during the “Winter Holidays?” $796 billion! To put that into perspective, $8.4 billion was spent this year during Halloween and $18.2 billion during Valentine’s Day.
There’s plenty more data for you to consume, so why not stop down sometime and check out everything we have to offer, including Statista? We might not have any Black Friday sales going on tomorrow, but we are open for business!
